This is not only a matter of fairness; it is essential to building strong, functioning communities
Too many Victorians are struggling to make ends meet. Rents are increasingly unaffordable, while social housing supply falls well short of demand for those who cannot compete in the private market. At the same time, rising costs across energy, food and fuel are compounding pressure on household budgets, leaving many people at risk of deepening financial stress, housing insecurity, and homelessness.
At the time of the last census, one in six Victorian children was already living in poverty. For many families, things have worsened since.
Ensuring that everyone can afford the basics is not only a matter of fairness; it is essential to building strong, functioning communities and a thriving, inclusive state for current and future generations.
We're calling on all parties and candidates to:
- Turbocharge social housing growth
- Build a stronger, fairer rental system
- Make energy affordable and accessible for every Victorian
- Ensure every Victorian can access the food they need
