Because every child should have the opportunity to grow up safe and healthy and to thrive.
Every child in Victoria should have the opportunity to grow up safe and healthy and to thrive. This requires access to the foundations for a strong start in life: stable housing, adequate family income, nutritious food, safe communities, social connection, and quality education and childhood care. Early investment is critical.
When children can access high quality early learning and a well-resourced education system that centres equity and inclusion, they are far more likely to learn well, stay engaged, and develop the skills needed to thrive.
Not every child is the same – and so our education, early childhood and service systems need to be intentionally designed to be holistic and responsive to the diverse needs of children and their families. And as children move into adolescence, sustained and targeted supports are essential – particularly for those at risk of school disengagement or contact with the justice system.
We're calling on all parties and candidates to:
- Fund and strengthen every Victorian child’s right to an inclusive, safe, equitable and quality education
- Get the Thriving Kids rollout right to deliver genuine disability reform
- Work together to restore opportunity and hope for young people at risk of justice system involvement
