We must stand firm against hate with a commitment to justice and inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Victoria stands at a critical moment. Around the world – and increasingly at home – we are seeing the consequences of fractured and disenfranchised societies, where division is deepening, trust is eroding, and extreme views are gaining ground. The forces of exclusion, racism and division are not abstract risks – they are present and growing, and they threaten the social fabric that underpins a fair and stable society.
In this context, the work that Victoria has begun matters more than ever. Through truth-telling and treaty-making with First Peoples, renewed commitments to multiculturalism, and a stronger focus on confronting racism and hate in all their forms, Victoria has laid the foundations for a more just and inclusive future. But these foundations must now be strengthened, not weakened. Resolute and compassionate political leadership is required.
Building a cohesive society requires sustained investment in the social and economic infrastructure that connects people. Ultimately, the path forward is clear: to resist division by fostering belonging, to stand firm against hate with a commitment to justice and inclusion, and to ensure that no one is left behind.
We're calling on all parties and candidates to:
- Close the Gap and back Victoria’s Treaty
- Create a Victoria free from hate
- Invest in social infrastructure
- Build the conditions for every local community to prosper
