What we're calling for

As a united sector, we're standing together and calling on all political parties and candidates to:

  • Prioritise policy that puts an end to poverty in Victoria: ensure that everyone has access to the essentials we all require for a life well lived, including housing, healthcare, food, education, decent work, social connection and belonging.
  • Commit to pay what it takes: fund Victoria’s community services at a level that reflects their true cost and value, through stable, long-term investment that lets the sector plan, build capacity, invest and deliver sustained impact. This includes standard five-year funding cycles, with a fair mechanism for proven fixed-term programs to transition to ongoing service funding.

VCOSS is asking that all political parties and candidates commit to a Victoria where:

  • Every Victorian is supported through a strong community sector
  • Every Victorian has a home and can afford the cost of living
  • Every Victorian child has a bright future
  • Every Victorian community is ready for, and protected from, climate impacts
  • Every Victorian gets the support they need, before (and after) crisis hits
  • Every Victorian belongs
